Why it exists

The problem it solves

Hospital content calendars tend to fill up with awareness days and doctor quotes, then stall when nobody has time to review them. The pieces that actually bring patients are answers to the questions they are already asking — about a procedure, a cost, a recovery, a language they are comfortable in — reviewed by someone qualified and ending in a clear next step.

This template plans twelve weeks around those questions. Every row names the service line, the patient question, the format, the language, the clinician who will review it, the channel, the status, the call to action and the final link. A planning sheet helps you choose the questions before you fill the weeks.

  • Six example rows showing how a filled calendar reads

  • An instructions sheet covering review, consent and publishing rules

Audience

Who it’s for

For content, social and digital teams in hospitals who need a calendar that clinicians can review and that leads to enquiries.

Method

How to use it

  1. Start on the Planning sheet: collect real patient questions from the contact centre, search terms and doctors.
  2. Prioritise the questions by service-line priority and how often they are asked.
  3. Move the chosen questions into the Calendar, one row per piece, and assign a clinician reviewer.
  4. Update the status column weekly and chase anything stuck in review.
  5. Add the published link and review which pieces generated enquiries at the end of the twelve weeks.

Questions about this template

How do I download the healthcare content calendar template?

Enter your email in the form on this page and confirm it from the email I send you. Your welcome email then includes the download link for this template and for every other tool on the Tools & Checklists page. It is free.

What should a hospital content calendar include?

At minimum: the service line, the specific patient question the piece answers, format, language, the named clinician reviewer, channel, status, the call to action and the final link. Planning around patient questions rather than dates keeps content useful, and naming a reviewer on every row stops pieces stalling at the approval stage.

How far ahead should a hospital plan content?

Twelve weeks is a practical horizon. It is long enough to plan clinician review time and regional-language versions, and short enough to adjust for what the contact centre is hearing and which service lines have capacity. Keep a few slots flexible for doctor availability and seasonal questions.

Who should review healthcare content?

A qualified clinician from the relevant specialty should review anything with medical content before it is published, and the review should be recorded. Marketing owns clarity, tone and the call to action; the clinician owns accuracy. For regional-language versions, check the translation is reviewed too, not just the English original.

How do I choose topics for healthcare content?

Use the questions patients already ask. Pull them from contact-centre logs, chat transcripts, search terms, doctor consultations and reviews. Group them by service line, then prioritise by strategic importance and how often they come up. The planning sheet in this template is built for exactly that exercise.
