Why it exists

The problem it solves

Most doctors I work with do not struggle for ideas. They struggle with consistency: three reels in one week, nothing for a month, then a scramble before an awareness day. The content that does go out often skips clinical review or patient consent because there was no time.

This content calendar template for doctors plans 13 weeks at a time. It starts from content pillars and a bank of real patient questions, slots three pieces a week across the platforms you use, and builds clinical review, consent and weekly results into the same sheet so nothing gets published on the fly.

Inside

What you get

  • A 13-week calendar with three slots a week, each with platform, format, pillar, topic, hook and call to action
  • Seven content pillars with target shares that compare against what you actually planned
  • A topic bank to capture questions from OPD, WhatsApp, comments and Search Console
  • Clinical reviewer, patient consent and status columns so nothing skips review
  • A weekly review sheet that counts planned versus published and totals views, saves and enquiries
  • Labelled example rows for an orthopaedic surgeon to show how each column is used

Audience

Who it’s for

Doctors in private practice, hospital consultants and the marketing or social media teams who plan content for them in India.

Method

How to use it

  1. Set target shares for each pillar in the Pillars sheet, based on what your patients need most.
  2. Fill the Topic bank with real questions from OPD, calls, WhatsApp, comments and Search Console.
  3. Plan all 13 weeks in the calendar, three slots a week, pulling topics from the bank and balancing pillars.
  4. Move each piece through status, with clinical review and consent before it is shot or published.
  5. Every week, fill views, saves and enquiries, then use the Weekly review sheet to adjust the next weeks.

What is a content calendar template for doctors?

It is a planning sheet that decides in advance what a doctor will publish, where, when and why, with review and consent built in. This one covers 90 days in 13 weekly blocks, linked to content pillars, a topic bank of real patient questions and a weekly review, so consistency does not depend on inspiration or last-minute effort.

How many posts a week should a doctor plan?

The template has three slots a week because that is sustainable for most busy doctors with some support. Consistency matters more than volume. If three is too many, plan two and use the third slot for repurposing. If you have a team and a backlog of approved scripts, add rows rather than cramming more into each slot.

Why does every row have a clinical reviewer and consent column?

Because health content can mislead or harm if it is wrong, and patient stories or images need written consent. Having both columns in the calendar makes review part of the workflow rather than a step people skip under deadline. Content should also follow NMC professional conduct rules and ASCI guidelines.

Where should content ideas come from?

From patients first: OPD questions, call centre and WhatsApp enquiries, comments and your website’s Search Console queries. Those are the questions people are already asking. Add awareness days and seasonal topics from a verified calendar. Trends and viral formats can shape the hook, but should not decide the topic.

How do I know if the calendar is working?

Look beyond views. The weekly review tracks published versus planned, views, saves and shares, and enquiries you can attribute. Over 13 weeks, the pillars and formats that bring saves and enquiries deserve more slots. If enquiries cannot be attributed, add a trackable call to action such as a tagged link or a WhatsApp keyword.
